Kristine Stratton
Executive Director
Kristine Stratton joined
Waterkeeper Alliance in September 2007 as
Executive Director. She is responsible for
overall strategic planning and implementation,
board relations, development, communications
and overseeing the healthy functioning of the
Alliance. Kristine joined WKA after serving as
vice president of finance and operations for
the Conservation Law Foundation, an
environmental advocacy organization with a
44-year history in the New England region.
While there, she oversaw all organizational
operations, including strategic program
planning and evaluation, and partnered with the
President on board management and
organizational communications for CLF and its
affiliates, CLF Ventures and Environmental
Insurance Agency. Prior to CLF, she spent more
than a decade at WGBH, the Boston-based
flagship public broadcaster. She left WGBH as
senior director of business operations with
responsibility for planning, operations
management and new developments for the $60
million television and radio station division.
During her tenure, she collaborated on overall
budget planning for the $200 million
institution and on the transition of the
station from analog to digital through the
launch of their first interactive website and
first suite of digital cable channels for live
and on-demand viewing.
Kristine received her B.S. in Business Administration from Boston University and M.A. in Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University. Kristine has engaged in numerous pro bono projects to aid non-profit organizations with mission critical needs, including a diversity study for the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and an economics review of a proposed wind farm for the Appalachian Trail Conference. Kristine grew up hiking and paddling the mountains and rivers of Maine, and continues to enjoy those pursuits along with a passion for sailing.
