Pearl River Fish Kill Update

Last week we highlighted Lower Mississippi Riverkeeper’s  response to a massive fish kill in Louisiana's Pearl River watershed, linking it to an upstream paper mill and also to the importance of the Clean Water Act.  This week Paul reports that LEAN, our partner in Louisiana environmental advocacy filed a Notice of Intent to file a citizens suit against Temple Inland under the Clean Water Act, Louisiana state law and violations of the Endangered Species Act.  The citizen’s suit provisions of our environmental laws are amongst our Waterkeepers’ most powerful tools to protect their communities and to promote swimmable, drinkable and fishable waters.
