Promote, preserve and protect the natural and historical environments of the Buffalo Niagara Rivers and their environs for the benefit of the local community.
Recent Accomplishments
--Buffalo River Great Lakes Area of Concern Remedial Action Plan (RAP) Coordination: secured $4 million to complete a Sediment Remediation Feasibility Study with sediment cleanup to begin in 2009--Since 2004, has secured for RAP nearly $10 million in state, federal, and private resources for restoration through unique partnerships with the USEPA, US Army Corp of Engineers, NYSDEC, Honeywell, the City of Buffalo and Erie County.
--Launched our green infrastructure program with rain barrel sale/distribution and demonstration rain garden at a public library branch. Continued our citizen action program engaging over 1300 people at once for semi-annual shoreline clean ups.
--Finally (6 years in the making) secured funding to develop a Niagara River watershed management plan
