To protect and restore the health of the Spokane River Watershed. We accomplish this by collaborating, educating, and, when necessary, litigating to preserve the Spokane River’s health now and in the future.

Recent Accomplishments

--Brought legal action against the City of Spokane’s illegal dry-weather sewer overflows resulting in a multi-million dollar settlement that will result in significant infrastructure upgrades to the City’s wastewater system.
--Challenged the Clean Water Act §401 Certification for five dams resulting in a settlement requiring dam owner to address dissolved oxygen impacts, mitigate impacts from dredging of reservoirs, and to increase flows for redband trout.
--Pushed the EPA to withdraw proposed NPDES permits that would arbitrarily “reset” pollution loading at the Idaho-Washington border by characterizing pollution crossing the border as “natural background.”
